Finance Administration Assistant (Ark Globe Academy)

Salary: £22,000 - £26,000 plus support to pursue a finance qualification, e.g., AAT
About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Ark Globe Academy's Operations team as their Finance Administration Assistant.
Ark Globe Academy (part of the Ark Schools network) was recognised by the UK Government in its Parliamentary Review as an example of excellent practice in education and is ranked in the top 10% of schools nationally. The Academy relies on its highly effective Operations team to support in delivery of this excellent practice. This team is looking for a highly organised and driven administrator who can collaborate with other colleagues to deliver the highest standard of finance service to the school whilst upholding the vision an ethos of the school and providing excellent customer service to a range of stakeholders.
As Finance Administration Assistant, you will be part of the Ark Central finance team with responsibility for delivering the highest standard of finance service and financial integrity to Ark Globe Academy. You will manage the day-to-day financial processes and administrative procedures required of the academy, ensuring compliance with the requirements of the Academies Financial Handbook.
This is a school-based position located in Southwark, South London. You will work closely with (and report to) the Finance Manager and will also work with the Principal and Vice Principal at the school.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Maintain financial records and filing systems, ensuring they are ready for audit
- Process authorised purchase orders, receive delivered goods and prepare invoices for payment
- Manage the receiving, recording and safekeeping of all cash income
- Make sure that invoices for services are raised promptly and receipt of income monitored
- Take responsibility to order and maintain school supplies and liaise with the relevant staff to ensure supplies are stored and distributed
- Assist with the reconciliation of schools bank accounts, credit card statements and financial ledgers
- Assist with the administration of cashless system used in the School
- Work closely with the Finance Manager and Operations Director to ensure the continuing financial stability of the school, supporting in driving forward finance change and initiatives which promote regularity, propriety, value for money and best standards
Key Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Experience of running effective administrative systems including data entry into databases and other IT systems
- School experience is desirable but not required
- Good level of proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel,
- Interest in learning new technologies including financial databases
- Excellent communication, writing and editing skills
- Excellent organisation and time-management skills
- Able to build relationships with a range of stakeholders and anticipate others' needs
- Able to manage several projects at once, prioritising accordingly to meet all deadlines
- Able to take ownership of tasks and work with minimal supervision
Qualification Criteria
- Right to work in the UK
- English and Maths GCSE grade A-C, or equivalent
