Job description

Fantastic finance trainee internship for an individual with a passion for finance and the NHS.

The role will work as part of the Financial Support Team to provide high quality and proactive robust financial management support.

This is a trainee role and the post holder will predominantly support the financial accounting function.

However, they must be flexible in the duties they perform and may be required to assist the management accounting function on an ad-hoc basis.

Key Responsibilities:

To assist in the production of high-quality financial management information and advice to Budget Managers.

Assist with month end reporting of the financial position including calculation of accruals and prepayments and production and input \/ upload of necessary journals.
Maintain a database of agency staff costs and use on a monthly basis to calculate accruals and adjustment journals each month end.

Produce reconciliations for specific corporate code combinations within each of the relevant ledgers on a monthly basis.
Assist with investigation of variances arising in monthly budget statements and report results back to the Corporate Accountant.
Assist with Budget Manager queries including analysing transactions and reviewing invoices.

To provide financial management support to ensure internal and external audit requirements are met.
Create and Input sales invoice requests into SBS as directed.
Ad-hoc query resolution and general support for departmental colleagues as required.

To participate in the can do team culture and play a role in driving up quality standards generally.
To assist the Financial Support team in providing excellent management accounting information support.
Key Requirements:

Graduate or equivalent qualification
Desire to study for a professional accountancy qualification \/ AAT
General work experience in a finance role
Excellent IT skills including MS Office
An appreciation of the finance function within the NHS
An appreciation of information governance in the NHS
Good communication skills.
