Job description
The Deptford Ragged Trust is looking to employ a part-time fundraiser. In 2022, we plan to knock down our 1950's life-expired building and replace it with a new building of six storeys, with residential accommodation at 'London Affordable Rent', alongside flexible church, community, exhibition, archive, café and office space.
Your role will be to continue to lead our campaign to raise £1.5m still needed to reach the overall project cost. You will be supported in this by our volunteer Fundraising Team. So far, we have raised over £300,000 from grant-making trusts and fundraising activities, and have a number of applications in process. Continuing our successful campaign, we are looking to progress our fundraising reach to corporate and high net worth individuals. Your role will be to manage the existing applications and relationships, alongside developing new partnership opportunities.
Workplace: The Bear Office, Deptford/Home - flexible hours
Contract: Six months - one year

ABOUT US
The past -The Deptford Ragged Trust dates back to 1844 when eight 'Christian men and women' from Deptford opened one of London's first 'ragged schools' in a loft above a cowshed on Deptford High Street.
The present - Today the Deptford Ragged Trust at the Shaftesbury Christian Centre is home to The Bear Church, Bear Cubs (parents and toddlers), The Evening Service and soup kitchen, The Deptford Ragged School Archive, English Fridays (ESOL), Psalms and Stretches, BearLive (music and art) and all kinds of creative and community events from theatre shows to jumble sales.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Job title: Fundraiser
Reports to: Paul Adlington (Pastor) and volunteer Fundraising Team.
Main Purpose:
Managing fundraising activity for the Deptford Ragged Trust's building project.
To continue our fundraising campaigns to raise £1.5 from grant-making trusts, corporate giving, high net worth individuals, individual donors, events and legacies.
Specific Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a fundraising plan approved by the Board of Trustees.
Work on large grant-making applications and coordinate smaller grant-making approaches with the Fundraising Team.
Initiate and build relationships with current and new grant-making trusts and foundations face-to-face and by phone and email.
Develop approaches to secure funding from corporate giving, people of high net worth and individual donors.
Work with the Fundraising Team and the congregation of the Bear Church to promote coordinate fundraising events.
Work with a team to develop monitoring systems for funds received.
Prepare and submit compelling narrative and financial reports to funders that demonstrate the impact of the work that has been funded.
Prepare fundraising reports for monthly trustee and leadership meetings.
Ensure fundraising is delivered against ethical standards and meets fundraising and data protection regulations.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential:
Has a wide range of fundraising experience.
Knowledge of the current funding landscape in the UK and of trends in philanthropy.
Highly organised and able to manage numerous applications and approaches.
Excellent communication skills and written skills with attention to detail.
Able to work both autonomously and as part of a team, with a can-do and collaborative working approach.
Commitment and drive to deliver against deadlines.
Desirable:
Legacy fundraising - experience in liaising with executors/solicitors and running legacy campaigns.
Experience in managing high profile media partnerships - e.g. radio, TV, film, online.
Key skills and competencies:
Influencing and negotiation - diplomacy skills and tact needed to manage stakeholders and key partners.
Presentation skills - ability to present with confidence and report to a number of parties and stakeholders.
Campaign management - experience of multi-channel campaigns.
Budget management - experience overseeing and reporting income and expenditure.
