Job description
Job Title: General Manager
Purpose of Role: Overseeing all aspects of mounting productions on behalf of the producer, particularly the business and financial concerns
Responsible To: Executive Producer - Matt Brinkler
Line Managing: All Departments & Freelancers
Place of Work: Office at 32 Bloomsbury St, London, WC1B 3QJ
And onsite in the UK / beyond as required by production needs
Hours of Work: Minimum 40 hours a week, 10-6 daily
Additional and out-of-hours work will be expected from time to time dependent on specific production schedules and requirements
Type of Contract: Full time role following 3-month probationary period
Salary: £38,000pa - subject to experience
Salary Review: Annually, based on company & job role growth
Holiday Entitlement: 28 days pa (including bank holidays)
Start Date: Flexible - Immediate
Notice Period: 2 Months
Closing Date: Friday 17 th December 2021
SUMMARY
Red Entertainment are looking to recruit a General Manager to oversee their continually growing portfolio of UK & international touring productions.
Red has established itself as one of the UK's leading producers of theatre for the one/two-night sector currently focusing on music, comedy, plays, pantomime & children's work.
The company's team work closely together on the creative process and we value input from all members of the team to maintain our high standards. It is important that everyone involved has a passion for the shows and media we create.
Key Responsibilities - General Manager
In the role, the successful applicant would be expected to facilitate the Producer's aims and objectives.
- Support the Producer and Creative Production Team in the feasibility of future projects and ideas
- Manage RED Entertainment staff to help them best meet their goals and deadlines
- Hiring, Appraising & Disciplining staff where required
- Contracting & Negotiations
- Manage and meet the Producer's budgets, advising where necessary
- Keep abreast of all current industry practice guidelines, responsibilities and duties.
- Maintain an organised office workflow, ensuring the company adheres to current work and Health & Safety practices.
Person Specification
Preferred Experience
- At least 5 years experience in a theatrical production position
- Experience as a General Manager or assistant thereof
- People management
- Budget management
- Contracting & contract negotiations
Skills
- Developed leadership and people management skills
- Basic understanding of technical aspects of productions including technical staff job roles and requirements
- A working knowledge of Equity/Bectu agreements and standard industry employment practises
- Highly computer literate with experience of using IT, Google Drive, Mac computers, Spreadsheets & Shared Company Documents to streamline operations.
