Job description
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Global Risk Management (RM) is dedicated to identifying and managing significant risk exposure at BCG.
The Data & Business Intelligence Lead position involves designing, managing, and deploying data analytics, reports, and dynamic dashboards. This position is responsible for extracting data from multiple sources, processing and validating data, and conducting root cause and trend analysis. The Data & Business Intelligence Lead will also present analytic findings to various stakeholders.
In addition, this role will participate in risk assessment for BCG Offices, functions and processes and looks to provide management with an independent and objective assessment of business risk and internal controls.
The successful candidate should be comfortable performing the following: writing queries in programing languages such as SQL and Python, developing analytical visualizations using Alteryx and Tableau (e.g. building dashboards), understanding cloud data warehousing (e.g. Snowflake), business intelligence architecture, application and design, Machine Learning & AI concepts. The candidate must also understand and assess risks across a wide variety of business areas, build relationships with diverse stakeholders, manage a complex network of individuals, influence change management across the organization, prioritize issues, and escalate appropriately.
YOU'RE GOOD AT
We are looking for someone with a passion and understanding of data analytics and business intelligence, risk management, change management, and global business. The role will entail the following:
Data & Business Analytics (60%)
• Assist the team with developing short-, medium- and long-term data analytics strategy
• Review, update, and investigate pertinent data from various data sources to ensure a high level of quality, accuracy, and timeliness
• Query multiple data sources using programing languages such as SQL and Python
• Produce visualization and developing dashboards using Tableau/Alteryx
• Analyze data and provide insights and recommendations for organizational planning and operations.
• Create business analytics by synthesizing information from multiple sources of data for business decisions and strategic planning.
• Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality
• Provide training and education to the team on data and analytics related topics
Office Risk Review Program (20%)
• Meet with Office Leadership and the Global Functions to lead the planning, execution, and post-review efforts for a portfolio of Office risk reviews and BCG's extension businesses.
• Travel to any BCG's Office throughout the world and work with the team to develop and maintain the risk review work program
• Assist the team with the execution of risk reviews to assess the risk and controls environment in the offices and test the effectiveness of controls
• Perform substantive tests of transactions
• Prepare timely and comprehensive documentation of findings and recommendations, including local management comments
• Maintain risk profiles for each office and prioritizing offices for a visit
• Act as a risk liaison with the local office, providing support and education on important risk issues
Global Process Review Program (20%)
• Lead targeted functional/operating risk reviews, which are focused on global or regional processes.
• Responsibilities will include defining the project scope and strategy, conducting process walk-throughs, performing detailed testing, drafting detailed reporting/action plans, and following up on implementation efforts.
• Focus on the scope and objectives of each review to ensure the highest risk areas are addressed and the key findings are communicated.
• Evaluate, in detail, the use of new digital technologies and the risks these solutions may pose to the global functions as BCG's business operations continue to evolve and modernize.
• Develop relationships with key functional leaders.
• Work with Global Risk Management Director to develop an annual plan of global functional risk reviews; align staffing and coordinate scheduling with key stakeholders.
• Monitor trends and emerging issues for reporting to leadership (i.e., Audit and Risk Committee).
• Act as a risk liaison with the global functions, providing support and education on important risk issues.
YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)
- An academic degree in a relevant discipline: Business, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Information Technology
- 3+ years successful experience related to Data Warehouse and Data Analytics, preferably in professional services, or the consulting industry.
- Understanding of enterprise data warehouses, business intelligence architecture, application and design, ML & AI concepts
- Knowledge of current computing technologies and software applications such as SQL/Python query language, Alteryx, Tableau and Microsoft tools
- Strong analytical skills with detail orientation; strong communication skills - written and verbal
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a global environment
- Ability to travel to all BCG office locations Worldwide
- Travel is required approximately 15% of the time, with the need to be flexible if additional travel is required. Travel is typically one week in length (may include weekends) but must be adaptable for risk reviews of up to 2+ weeks if required. Travel is generally planned well in advance but must be flexible to travel on limited notice.
- Travel will align with BCG's Covid-19 protocols and applicable laws and regulations.
YOU'LL WORK WITH
Local/system/regional operational leaders, global functional leaders, and BCG leadership. BCG's Chief Risk Officer leads the team, which is comprised of team members across various cities and countries. This role will report to the Global Risk Management Director.
