Head of Rail
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a talented and engaging Head of Rail, to join our expanding Team based within London or home counties. Danny Sullivan Group is the leading supplier of skilled, professional labour in the UK, and has been serving the civil engineering, rail, transportation, and construction industries since 1986.
You will manage the day to day running of specific contracts and ensure the communication, professionalism, compliance, Welfare and Health and Safety of the labour supplied is maintained to the Danny Sullivan Group standards, whilst also keeping the client relationships strong and meaningful.
The role will suit someone looking for a challenging role as part of a structured team, committed to the delivery of exciting and successful projects.
Duties
- Provide high quality, expert advice to the DSG leadership Team to promote strategic thinking and optimal strategic planning processes for a long-term growth and profitability.
- Together with the directors and other senior management, design, develop and implement strategic plans for the organisation in a manner that is both cost and time-efficient
- Responsible for the management and implementation of all contracts and, as applicable, overseeing the performance of operations managers within your geographical locations of responsibility.
- Analyse the client base across the business to establish a common approach for client retention and growth.
- Be 'hands-on' in site visits ensuring each project is running according to client plans, engaging with employees to ensure effective delivery of contractual obligations.
- Manage compliance with all quality, health and safety and legal requirements
- Recruit and maintain site level staff turnover, e.g. utilising resources in the most efficient manner, strategically planning for deficits and surpluses in staffing numbers and working with clients and senior management within the organisation to manage same etc.
- Working with the DSG commercial team, supporting them in securing new business via tender or negotiation
- Identifying gaps / weakness in any specific areas and recruiting appropriate staff to fill those roles.
Skills/Experience (essential): ·
- Minimum of 5+ relevant Operational Rail experience
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
- Good time management, organisational and analytical skills
- Self-starter and highly motivated to take initiative and create and develop new ideas and strategies
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Ability to manage a busy workload, multi-tasking, and meeting deadlines
- Enthusiasm and able to influence others Excellent communication skills to foster and develop effective relationships with employees within the business, as well as with customers, suppliers and other stakeholder partners
- Well-presented and professional
- High degree of accuracy and excellent attention to detail · Capable of searching and finding information, carrying out specific projects & research
- Experience or knowledge of the Construction industry
