On Site ICT Technician - Education Sector

Forest Gate, London

Permanent Position

Salary up to £27,500 + Excellent Company Benefits

This is an exciting opportunity to join a unique transformation and IT services and solutions provider now undergoing a fresh focus to build out the business. With an ever growing client portfolio across the public sector, including local government, education, NHS, blue light they also service the enterprise private sector.

With multiple UK wide office locations there's now a new focus to grow the support services at all levels including an opportunity for an On Site IT technician to be a key part of the business and to help build and manage the support services on site.

We are looking for confident, enthusiastic and motivated support person with server, infrastructure and virtualisation skills already under their belt and experience working within an education environment, applicants from simple desktop EUC service desks with AD skills and a passion for technology will also be considered.

Joining as an IT technician, your career will be exciting, as opportunities exist to train and certify, and to build and progress through your Microsoft training and exams.

The ideal candidate will have at least 1-2 years IT support experience in a fast paced environment, coping well under pressure with a real drive to succeed and brilliant communication skills. You will need to use your initiative in situations and be passionate about technology and building your skills.

The Role

Joining a Managed Service Provider, you will provide deskside support on site within the education sector and act as their final point of contact in support. Outside of term times you will be involved in key projects, giving a blend of different project work.

Technology support will blend across EUC/Modern Desktop and some Server Infrastructure, including:

  • Windows to v 10
  • Office 365
  • Active Directory
  • Group Policy
  • Exchange
  • MDT/WDS
  • Backup/Antivirus
  • Support Desktop, Device & Printer issues
  • Support Audio Visual devices (Interactive Whiteboards/Projectors)
  • Virtualisation (Hyper-V)
  • Server 2012 R2 - 2019
  • Occasional MAC iOS as required
  • Basic routing & Switch admin

Other key factors of this role include:

  • Delivering a high level of customer service at all times
  • Building strong client relationships through excellent communication skills
  • Providing hands on technical experience around escalations and support
  • Manage service and incident processes (including incident management)
  • Manage client relationships
  • Suggest improvements for the ongoing development of the service department
  • Reacting to a mix of Proactive and reactive incidents
