Job description

The Wellcome Collection, part of Wellcome, is a free museum and library that aims to challenge how we all think and feel about health.

Through exhibitions, collections, live programming, digital, broadcast and publishing, we create opportunities for people to think deeply about the connections between science, medicine, life and art.

We have an exciting new position as an IT Products Manager in Wellcome's Digital and Technology department supporting the Collection.

The successful candidate will manage the delivery of quality specialist technologies and products within a dynamic programme of activity across the Galleries, the Reading Room and the Library ensuring that the solutions enable Wellcome Collection to deliver on its strategic objectives.

In partnership with the Collection and using suppliers' expertise, develop an outcome-focused technology and products line roadmap which describes the short to long-term plans and requirements of the technology and products and their benefits to the Collection.

The role will manage all aspects of in-life products, including user feedback, requirements, and issues and take ownership of the design, development, configuration, integration, installation, upgrading, secure operation, testing, management, performance monitoring and effective use of the specialist technologies and products that form the products line, maintaining their alignment to the overall roadmap.

You will build, manage and motivate a team ensuring that people with the right range of skills and experience are recruited and retained, and that their skills and professional capabilities are maximised.

You will be accountable for a positive customer experience of services, technologies and products that fall within the products line and continuously manage these to drive positive change.

It's a broad role that requires a holistic view and ability to influence, steer and foster partnerships and strategic relationships across product, service, change, supplier and people management spheres.

Skills and Experience:

Essential

  • Experience leading a devops technical team within the museum or library industries or similar public spaces environment.
  • Experience with audits.
  • Experience with specialist Collection and Library technologies e.g. Sierra.
  • Significant experience of supplier relationship management.
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplined Agile and DevOps environment.
  • Budget management.
  • Agile / PRINCE2 foundation project management qualification.

Desirable:

  • Experience with integration, automation, scripting, and/or AI.
  • Experience with cloud data warehouse and data lake technologies.
  • ITIL foundation qualification.
  • Advanced project management qualification e.g. Prince2 Practitioner, etc.
  • Collaboration and control tools such as SharePoint, Confluence and Liquid Planner.
  • Familiar with intent based leadership
  • Lean process improvement
