Our Investment teams are grouped under: Equities, Fixed Income, Multi-Assets and Alternatives.Overview of the roleYou will support Risk Managers in their role of helping Portfolio Managers improve the risk / return profile delivered to investors. You will contribute to the identification of risks in the portfolios covered, escalation and resolution of issues when identified and development of analytics and/or automation of existing analytics on the desk, etc.You will also help ensure portfolio risk profiles reflect client expectations.You will report into a senior member of the team to help oversee a broad group of portfolios. Although the role will have a specific asset class focus, we will make every effort to allow exposure to other asset classes worked on within the team.Duties and responsibilitiesYou will:Assist with processes to ensure that accurate risk analytics are available on a timely basis.Analyse risk attribution reports for use by the Portfolio Managers, Global Head of Investment Risk, Asset Class Heads, Chief Investment Officer and other interested users of the data such as senior management, marketing, and complianceWork with Risk Managers in covering all aspects of investment risk, performance and other relevant metrics to ensure portfolios are managed in the client's best interest.Partner with investment teams on fund structuring and portfolio optimisation strategies.Produce ad hoc reports for the business, focused on risk issues in the prevailing markets.Support implementation and development of quantitative solutions for risk management.Enhance the infrastructure supporting the generation of risk reports across different asset classes.Carry out additional duties as assigned.Investment areasHas responsibility for supporting portfolios in the Fixed Income Asset Class.Supervisory responsibilitiesNoTechnical skills and qualificationsEducated to degree level or equivalentWorking toward CFA or other professional qualification is an advantageA strong understanding of fund risks and risk systems, as well as the strengths and weaknesses of themUnderstanding of risk models and different investment processesHigh degree of numeracy and quantitative skillsGood knowledge of capital markets and fixed income asset classSome knowledge of derivatives (types, valuation/pricing, risks)Knowledge of risk models and concepts such as tracking error, VaR, and stress testing methodologies not expected but welcomeExperience in a similar buy side market risk role ideally; market risk role on the sell side will also be consideredSome knowledge of Bloomberg, RiskMetrics, UBS Delta, Barra or similar systems beneficialIntermediary Excel /VBA required, any knowledge of Python and SQL very beneficialCompetencies requiredIn addition to putting clients first, acting like an owner, and succeeding as a team, the competencies for this role include:Excellent communication/ interpersonal skillsTeam orientatedAbility to plan and organise workload to perform both routine and ad hoc tasksAbility to build strong working relationships with internal clientsAbility to work closely with external software providers as and when requiredExcellent attention to detailAbility to build relationships with key personnel such as fund managers and distributionAbility to assimilate knowledge quickly with a desire to improve knowledge of all Janus Henderson products/fundsA flexible approach with the ability to think laterallyOngoing competence in the role to be assessed, in line with applicable regulatory requirements, by:Annual performance appraisalCompletion of all assigned compliance trainingCompliance requirementsAt a minimum the role will require you to:Place the interest of Janus Henderson's Clients first, act in accordance with TCF (Treating Customers Fairly) principlesUnderstand and follow laws and regulations applicable for your role, seeking the help of your supervising manager or Compliance if additional guidance is requiredUnderstand and abide by all Janus Henderson policies applicable to your role, and seek support/guidance of the policy owner guidance when requiredYou are ultimately accountable for your actions and responsible for seeking further information on any or all of the above as necessary.Janus Henderson (including its subsidiaries) will not maintain existing or sponsor new industry registrations or licenses where not supported by an employee's job functions (as determined by Janus Henderson at its sole discretion).All applicants must be willing to comply with the provisions of Janus Henderson Investment Advisory Code of Ethics related to personal securities activities and other disclosure and certification requirements, including past political contributions and political activities.
