Job description

A Housing Association based in Essex is looking for a Senior Development Manager to join their team. This is a full time, Permanent vacancy and the successful candidate must have a full relevant degree level Construction qualification, extensive experience with Construction/Development projects, experience with leading projects to completion and ideally have experience in a similar local authority or housing role.

The main purpose of the role is to provide a lead role in the Development & Regeneration team in delivering existing/new communities through the physical, economic, environmental and social regeneration of neighbourhoods.

To undertake the management of a range of regeneration and development projects from inception to completion.

To appraise and acquire new sites. To contribute as part of the development & regeneration team in the formulation of strategies, policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following;

Experience of working in the Social Housing/ Private Development Sector

Experience in Managing a Project Management/ Development Team

Experience in selecting appropriate building construction methods

Minimum 5 years directly relevant experience.

Educated to honours degree level (or equivalent) in Regeneration or a related subject (minimum 2:2)

Masters degree in related subject

Awareness of the range of funding streams to support the regeneration process

Knowledge of the GLA/Homes England priorities

Experience in negotiating with key contacts in Homes England

The main responsibilities associated with the role are as follows;

Respond to the statutory requirements of the development process to ensure the regeneration/development scheme is completed on programme, on budget, and to the required technical standards.

Identify the design issues and risks in building construction proposals and recommend solutions.

Understand the costs and benefits from using a variety of traditional and modern methods of building construction

Understand the costs and benefits from using current best practice in building sustainable homes

Apply and promote the key principles of urban design excellence

The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this position, interviews to be held on the 2nd December 2021, and as such is offering a salary of between £69,000 - £82,000 per annum (depending on experience, skills etc.) along with a number of additional benefits.
