The client benefit is a better understanding of their own asset allocations and the sharing of our firm's knowledge and insights. Our team is critical to a sophisticated, consultative sales process. We are offered to clients as a product agnostic, objective service and we are an engine of thought leadership that is fully integrated with Distribution and Marketing. A successful Senior Portfolio Strategist combines a sophisticated, rigorous, analytical skillset with a strong suite of communication skills to engage with clients and internal teams on a wide variety of strategic asset allocation, tactical allocation, manager implementation, and macroeconomic projects.Overview of the roleAs Senior Portfolio Strategist, your primary responsibility is to be an asset allocation and portfolio implementation subject matter expert and engage with your clients in this capacity. You will communicate both on the phone and in person to build and deliver customized portfolio analysis presentations and be responsible for client- facing content and thought leadership generation, to be delivered through various methods including in-person presentations, articles and blog posts. You will be expected to attend client meetings and conference presentations, as well as work with our Technology partners to design and implement scalable, client-facing portfolio analysis tools and presentations.Please note that there are three different London-based Senior Portfolio Strategist roles available within this growing team, all are advertised on the careers site.Duties and responsibilitiesYou will:Be primarily focused on our global institutional clientsEngage with institutional client directly as well as with institutional consultantsWork closely and travel with our sales team to drive client engagement through both individual client meetings, small group presentations, and appearance at industry conferencesProvide and present customized asset allocation analyticsPartner with sales and technology resources to enhance Janus Henderson's Portfolio Construction and Strategy offerings and deliverables dependent on client needsContribute concepts and ideas for client-facing content and thought leadershipResearch industry best practices surrounding portfolio construction techniques, risk metrics, and evolving trendsUse PCS deliverables to help implement strategies that deliver results on target with client investment objectivesWork with sales to identify potential fit for Janus Henderson strategies both pre- and post-client engagementPosition products across institutional, intermediary and international distribution channels seeking opportunities to actively promote products and drive salesStay current on capital markets and industry trends to further subject matter expertise in portfolio strategyCarry out additional duties as assigned.Supervisory responsibilitiesPotential supervisory responsibilities.Technical skills and qualificationsMulti-asset experience as an institutional portfolio construction subject matter expert at an asset manager, institutional consultant, or at an institutional clientExtensive client-facing experience with institutional clients, including both individual client meetings and large group presentationsEnglish language required, additional languages a plusBachelor's Degree or equivalent required; master's degree preferredCFA charterholder requiredDeep experience with asset management industry, including knowledge of Distribution channels such as institutional, adviser-driven, platform placement and/or insurance, with the ability to quickly learn key drivers and needs of other channelsExtensive Excel and PowerPoint skillsCoding experience a plusComfort with detailed data analysis, from sources including Morningstar Direct, Bloomberg, FactSet, and eVestmentCompetencies requiredIn addition to putting clients first, acting like an owner, and succeeding as a team, the competencies for this role include:Ability to set goals, work independently and get resultsAbility to assimilate complex and varied market data into a timely case for portfolio implementationAbility to partner with Technology developers to design and automate sophisticated quantitative portfolio analysisSolid verbal and written communication skills including strong presentation skills requiredAbility to drive ideas from concept to completion through efficient project management and executionProven organizational, analytical and problem solving skillsCommercial mindsetOngoing competence in the role to be assessed, in line with applicable regulatory requirements, by:Annual performance appraisalCompletion of all assigned compliance trainingAnnual attestation (Knowledge and Competence in-scope roles only)Compliance requirementsAt a minimum the role will require you to:Place the interest of Janus Henderson's Clients first, act in accordance with TCF (Treating Customers Fairly) principlesUnderstand and follow laws and regulations applicable for your role, seeking the help of your supervising manager or Compliance if additional guidance is requiredUnderstand and abide by all Janus Henderson policies applicable to your role, and seek support/guidance of the policy owner guidance when requiredYou are ultimately accountable for your actions and responsible for seeking further information on any or all of the above as necessary.For those in scope of Knowledge & Competence (MiFID IIKnowledge of financial markets, financial markets function and the impact of economic figures and national/regional/global events on marketsUnderstanding of issues relating to market abuse and anti-money launderingAnnual attestationJanus Henderson (including its subsidiaries) will not maintain existing or sponsor new industry registrations or licenses where not supported by an employee's job functions (as determined by Janus Henderson at its sole discretion).All applicants must be willing to comply with the provisions of Janus Henderson Investment Advisory Code of Ethics related to personal securities activities and other disclosure and certification requirements, including past political contributions and political activities.
