Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced professional with the skills, energy, and passion to engage with young people and youth organisations in local communities, supporting our strategic priority to ensure the voices of young people are heard and fully represented throughout our organisation and to develop new ways of engaging young people in the work of Neighbourhood Watch.

This is an exciting time to be joining Neighbourhood Watch, with plans to grow and develop our work with young people and underrepresented communities over the coming years. We are committed to ensuring young people are heard and represented within Neighbourhood Watch and their wider community. We want to better understand and listen to how we can support and work alongside them to create a more holistic, engaging and reflective proposition and space for young people at the organisation.

Over the course of 12 months you will be building new relationships with youth organisations in three pilot locations. Through these connections, you will get to know the areas and young people who wish to actively engage with their communities and make changes, including around crime prevention. This is a new role that will be informed and led by the young people you are engaging with. We will expect you to take a collaborative approach to the work with young people, involving them in design and delivery wherever possible. This work will be with people aged 16-24 years old.

Neighbourhood Watch is the largest crime prevention community in the UK. Neighbourhood Watch Network (NWN) is the umbrella organisation that supports Neighbourhood Watch schemes throughout England and Wales. NWN is a registered charity (CIO) and our Board of Trustees are responsible for the governance of the organisation. The small staff support team are employed to act as the strategic voice for the movement and supports volunteers and members across England and Wales to work with their communities, the police and other agencies to build safer, connected and resilient neighbourhoods.
