Your new role

* As a member of the leadership tem, working in a matrix-team environment, you will be providing leadership and a depth of expertise in the process, analytical and manufacturing department of cell and gene therapies, applying your expertise in bioprocessing and bioengineering fundamentals of ATMPs for bioreactor systems to enable the delivery of robust, scalable, GMP-ready processes.

* You will take an active part in supporting the Head of Bioprocessing and Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) with translation of research-based manufacturing and analytical processes to clinical manufacturing protocols, providing subject matter expertise of ATMP-related products and processes.

* You will collaborate with process and analytical scientists within industry and academia, communicating experimental findings internally and to external collaborators. You will manage the performance and development of direct reports.

What you'll need to succeed

* You will hold a BSc\/ MSc\/ PhD qualification in a Bioengineering\/ Biochemical\/ Tissue Engineering discipline (or possess relevant research\/ industrial experience), including proven mammalian cell scalable bioprocessing expertise and experience.

* You will be proficient with maintenance and bioprocessing of viral vectors, and translating static cell culture processes within bioreactor systems, understanding engineering fundamentals for stirred tank reactor scale up and control.

* You will bring demonstrable expertise in relevant analytical techniques, including flow cytometry, PCR and cell counts, with the know-how of working with GMP regulations to manufacture biologics.

* You will have the ability to line manage junior scientists, effectively becoming responsible for their performance and natural development.

* Experience of tech transfer to\/ from commercial and research organisations, and designing prototype bioprocessing equipment (or upgrading existing equipment) will be highly advantageous.
