Your new role

As a senior member of the Research & Development team, you will bring your expertise of bioassay development, project and people management, helping to drive the development and implementation of the clients' core technologies to attain target performance for new instrumentation.

Key R&D duties include:

* Taking initiative in the planning of research, identifying and developing suitable techniques, and apparatus for the team, for the collection and analysis of biomedical assay data.

* You will identify, capture and record IP, additionally assisting with IP protection.

* You will attend relevant team meetings, workshops, and conferences as necessary, developing contacts and research collaborations with the wider community.

What you'll need to succeed

* You will hold a PhD (or equivalent research experience) in Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Biochemistry, or in a closely related field, including extensive post-doctoral research experience in bioassay development, with the ability to manage junior scientists.

* Experience of producing and implementing biologically relevant data (quantitative bioassay data analysis) is imperative to the nature of this role.

* You will have experience with affinity-based reagents, e.g. antibodies, affibodies, DNA.

* You will have deep knowledge of chemical and biochemical mechanisms and processes.

Skills that would be an advantage to possess include:

* Experience with surface modification chemistries, chemical labelling and tagging chemistries,

* Experience with fluorescence spectroscopy and\/ or fluorescence detection,

* Experience with microfluidic devices and,

* Experience of optically read assays.
