A career in our Accounting Services Group practice, within Assurance Support services, will provide the opportunity to support our engagement teams and clients by providing advice and counsel on accounting, financial reporting, and strategic business issues. In joining, you'll help ensure a complete and relevant exchange of information among our consultants and in turn with engagement teams and clients, provide experts advice on a variety of specific topics, support engagement teams in resolving complex issues, and supporting clients and their subsidiaries in evaluating the potential impact of accounting and reporting standard setting initiatives. You'll develop strong relationships with our engagement teams and established audit clients and enhance our ability to meet greater investor expectations with the challenges of an increasingly complex business environment.Our team provides advice and counsel on accounting, financial reporting, and strategic business issues using US GAAP and International Financial Reporting Standards frameworks. You'll work on both local and global engagements and keep PwC teams informed about accounting and financial reporting developments that might affect engagements through issuing communications and through curated trainings. You'll also assist with developing and communicating PwC's point of view to internal and external parties as needed. About the team
Global Accounting Consulting Services (GACS) Central Team (CT) is a global team consisting of 3 full time Partners (based in the UK), 2 overseas Partners at 50% and 11 staff. The objective of the Central Team is to lead initiatives that are needed to achieve the GACS strategy (focused on quality, connectivity, people, technology, and industry) and increase the value that can be provided by local GACS functions. A local GACS function is a business unit providing technical accounting guidance to territory engagement teams. The CT is the first point of call for GACS teams from around the world that want to provide consistent, high quality accounting advice to their engagement teams and clients. GACS is also primarily responsible for developing and communicating PwC's global view on IFRS accounting matters.
Given the political and regulatory context, Audit Quality and financial reporting remains high on the agenda for the PwC network and ensuring the continued success of this team is of paramount importance to the firm. Whilst the CT is a small team there are a number of operational complexities, for example overseas secondees, coordinating the GACS network of over 600 PwC members, global budgeting and resource allocation across the team.
Who we are looking for
The CT is looking to recruit a new Operations Manager to support GACS on a full-time basis, with the enthusiasm to get involved and a willingness to learn. You will be joining the CT, which is currently based in Embankment Place, co-located with other parts of global assurance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project manage strategic initiatives
- Set up ways of working to operationalise the significant number of projects and processes in the team
- Assist with project management, helping to set up dashboards so that leaders can easily see the portfolio and status of the various projects
- Be closely involved in the GACS strategic pillars with a focus on Quality and Connectivity.
- Assist with managing the secondee pipeline including
- working with recruitment on job adverts and job specs,
- organising interviews,
- ensuring a smooth start with the team.
- Prepare and analyse reports for the CT leadership on team utilisation
- Review and periodically update the set of charge codes used by the team
- Review working capital reports and reach out to local teams to ensure that bills issued by the CT are paid on timely basis
- Providing input, challenge and support in determining, drafting and delivering planning for the team over current and future periods
- Oversee the organisation of key team meetings - both formal and social.
4. Support the network roll out of vital quality systems and new technology solutions
- Oversee the roll out of Consult, arranging the onboarding of new territories, arranging regression tests, monitoring budgets, working with the development team
- Project manage any ongoing or new technology solutions.
