We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated Head Cook to join us at Bure Park Specialist Academy. Bure Park is the sister school to Eaton Hall Specialist Academy in Norwich which has been graded as Outstanding by Ofsted for over ten years.
The school teaches pupils from primary through to secondary.
Bure Park Specialist Academy is a newly built residential special school for boys with a range of social, emotional and mental health needs. It will, over its first two years, grow to 88 pupils.
Our school shares the vision of our sponsor, the Boudica Academy Trust, that improving the life chances of all pupils has to be at the heart of all we do. To achieve this Boudica firmly believes in valuing and championing all members of staff employed throughout the trust.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone wishing to be part of a highly motivated exceptional team who strive to establish the highest standards and who are instrumental in ensuring that we change children's lives. The role of Head Cook is a key role in providing basic needs to the children in our care. The role includes creating menus and preparing food for both lunchtime in school as well as tea time for the children in residence.
Personal qualities are of paramount importance, and the individual appointed will be expected to display enthusiasm, energy, good humour, flexibility and reliability. They must also have the ability to work independently and as part of a busy team.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for producing home cooked, fresh, nutritious food for our children.
Applicants should have previous experience of working in a catering establishment; preferably they should have City & Guilds 706 or equivalent. A Level 3 Food Hygiene certificate in food safety or similar qualification would be preferable but this could be completed in house.
Applicants should have very good interpersonal skills; good general knowledge of ICT, experience of working in a kitchen and creating and producing menus. Knowledge of School Food standards is essential as well as an understanding of environmental health. It is the Head Cooks responsibility to ensure compliance with all the relevant legislation relating to the school kitchen. A full driving licence is also desirable.
The role is 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 7.30am and 6.00pm. Actual hours to be negotiated.
Previous experience of working in a school kitchen is preferable but not essential.
