Enjoying unique lifestyle opportunities, St Helena Island is a self-governing overseas territory of the United Kingdom. Although better placed to develop economically and socially as a result of opening our international airport in 2017, we are not at the stage of self-sufficiency and therefore remain dependent on UK government aid.
In this vital role you will see that appropriate clinical and corporate governance systems and processes are developed to support the effective integration of the Health and Social Care functions and services, and are in place to achieve planned clinical strategies and corporate goals. Your advice and guidance to the senior team will enable them to offer consistently high quality, safe and effective care to the island population.
It will be your mission to ensure that the Health and Social Care Portfolio has in place a robust and comprehensive corporate governance framework, with the systems and processes to facilitate compliance. You will make sure there are comprehensive and effective corporate governance arrangements in place on a Portfolio-wide basis, to assure the Portfolio Director that organisational risks are adequately identified and controlled. You must Interpret, analyse and proactively maintain knowledge of up-to-date statutory and regulatory requirements to guarantee compliance with all current and future governance policies and procedures across the Portfolio.
Holding a Level 5 or 6 (degree) qualification in a relevant subject or with equivalent attainment or experience, you have a varied background as a manager in a healthcare or social care setting, having managed governance agendas. You have also managed a function or service area or diverse group of staff, budgets, resources and funding and are a great problem-solver.
In addition, you must demonstrate our core values of fairness, integrity and teamwork and use your diverse expertise and experiences to ensure your time on the Island has the broadest benefit to St Helena. As an officer funded through the Technical Co-Operation Programme you will be expected to share your knowledge and skills beyond the workplace contributing to workforce, community and capacity development in St Helena.
