Marketing Manager -Automation Programmes (B2C Publishing)
Location: London, Berlin, Heidelberg, Pune

Springer Nature have a fantastic opportunity for a Marketing Manager, passionate about automation to join the Marketing Planning team. You'll be responsible for increasing author submissions and conceptualising and project managing B2C author automation programmes, focusing on acquisition, submission growth, and post-publication nurture/retention. Also important to this role is the ability to set up automation workflows focusing on both efficiency and quality of outputs; as well as act as 'product expert' of automation programmes.
This diverse role offers an opportunity to be part of some of the newer and evolving parts of our business and the publishing industry - from open access and new journals, to content conceptualisation and marketing automation! There will be heavy involvement in building frameworks, improving processes and establishing automation programmes, laying foundations and building effective customer journeys that benefit customer and revenues.
The variation offered in this role means project ownership and an opportunity to deliver strategic marketing practices.
You'll be partnering and collaborating with different parts of Research Marketing and the business to work effectively together.
There are a number of exciting pilots and projects in progress currently, and there will be more to come as part of the 2022 Automation Roadmap. This role has the scope for project management and development of key strategic areas, working closely with verticals including DAT, CMT, Audiences, as well as Project Data.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a central point in Planning for marketing automation collaborating with various teams supporting different parts of the business
- Marketing Automation Journey/Flow Design, including detailing of process maps, identification of content needs and targets, etc
- Drive change to joined-up automated author journeys and campaign programmes
- Be knowledge centre for automation journey/flow design and expand this to others
- Global team management
- Provide expert project management support, leading on automation
- Identify and analyse opportunities to streamline and improve automation programmes
- Implement and ensure consistent and efficient automation processes within Planning
- Act as a central point in Planning for analytics, reporting, communication and training
- Drive change to joined-up automated customer journeys and campaign programmes
- Put in place on-going monitoring and reporting to support automation workflows
- Facilitate strong internal and external relationships
- Work with internal partners to ensure programmes are well-understood and supported
- Work with other teams to identify areas of opportunity for collaboration
Experience:
- Experience with marketing automation programmes and design of customer journeys
- Proven abilities in designing automation workflows
- Strong understanding of customer/ user journeys and personas
- Excellent digital marketing skillset
- Experience in customer research techniques and methodologies
- Experience in customer segmentation
- High competence in project management and ability to adapt as needed in response to continuous monitoring of programme performance and a changing environment
- An understanding of agile project management techniques
- Demonstrable experience of creativity, finding new ways of achieving results
- Ability to work well in a matrix and cross-functional team structure
- Experience in using marketing analytics tools
Skills:
- Strong influencing and negotiating skills
- Flexible and 'agile' approach, and the ability to adapt to fast-paced, changing environments
- Must be able to work to tight deadlines and react quickly to changing priorities
- Highly computer literate with good knowledge of Google Analytics, Google Docs, Microsoft Office programs, Word, Excel, Trello, Miro and PowerPoint.
Qualifications:
- Marketing automation related qualifications or equivalent professional experience
