Job description
Seven Social Care are looking for an Occupational Therapist to work with Walsall Council in their adults services.
£28.00 per hour.
37 hours per week.
CAR ALLOWANCE - Casual
PURPOSE OF JOB:
As a member of a multi-skilled team, be responsible for providing a professional social care occupational therapy service for persons of all ages

Reports to: Advanced Practitioner/Team Manager
Responsible over:
SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
* Registered as an Occupational Therapist with the HCPC
* Ability/willingness to travel from location to location
* Some working outside normal office hours may be required
MAIN ACTIVITIES:
* Assess the needs and abilities of service users with specific reference to their functional ability, and where appropriate, work with them and others to develop an individual care/support plan with clear objectives based on their input, desired outcomes and the management of risk to optimise independence and choice
* Agree care and support plans and any resource allocation (where relevant)
* Provide support and advice to service users and carers on how their needs could be partly or wholly met by access to universal and other non-care services.
* Plan, implement and/or oversee reablement programmes to improve and maintain independence either at home or in any other appropriate setting.
* Take responsibility for prescribing, ordering and ensuring timely delivery of equipment, including assistive technology, either from the Integrated community Equipment Service or from any other designated supplier
* Demonstrate the correct use of equipment to service users and their carers
* Using a person centred approach, identify and organise the provision of adaptations to service users' homes, ensuring these recommendations are carried out in a timely fashion
* Undertake re-assessments and reviews of support/care packages as required to ascertain their effectiveness and appropriateness, and present any revised budget decisions to the Resource Allocation Panel (if appropriate).
* Work flexibly with colleagues from other disciplines and other community agencies in enabling people to access community resources, lead independent lives and make their own decisions.
* Provide advice, guidance and support to colleagues working with people with disabilities on specific issues e.g. manual handling, as appropriate
* Use IT equipment as required within the context of their role, record work undertaken and ensure case notes are clear, concise and recorded contemporaneously
* Assist in the collection of performance data using appropriate IT systems
* Participate in the duty system as required by the team Manager
* Participate in individual and team development activities
* Maintain registration with appropriate professional body and take responsibility for own Continuing Professional Development
* To work at all times in accordance with the policies and procedures of Adult Social Care and Walsall Council
* To ensure that the quality of service provided meets agreed quality standards.
* To maintain effective relationships with others and to undertake joint work with other professionals in the completion of tasks, initiating, where necessary, multi-disciplinary meetings for the co-ordination of complex care arrangements
* To participate in local planning groups/local practitioner groups etc.
* To serve on ad hoc bodies/working parties relevant to your role.
* Take responsibility for own practice development (supported by the service).
* To adhere to the code of conduct as defined by the regulatory body and the Council, and practice in accordance with the professional competence framework for Occupational Therapists
* To carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the overall function, commensurate with the grading and level of responsibilities of the post.
