Millbrook Healthcare Group's award winning Worcestershire Home Improvement Agency (HIA) Service is dedicated to making suitable, fit-for-purpose adaptations to our clients homes, helping them to live more independently.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist to join the Worcestershire Promoting Independent Living Service; supporting non-clinical colleagues in a multidisciplinary team, contributing to local developments in delivery and managing your own clinical caseload.

The Role:

To provide an occupational therapy service for customers in need of housing adaptations across Worcestershire, working within a wider multi-disciplinary team as part of the Worcestershire HIA
To work unsupervised as the sole occupational therapist within the team, accessing clinical support from occupational therapy colleagues in other geographical locations
Undertake holistic, home-based assessment of customers with a variety of physical, cognitive, sensory and/or learning disabilities with an emphasis on assessing difficulties arising as a result of the home environment
Making recommendations on adaptations required within the homes of service users
Triaging more complex telephone calls to PILS Customer Care team and contacting clients / carers by telephone to identify potential solutions
Referring and signposting clients / carers to other services as required
Write timely professional reports/ records and action plans in line with professional guidelines
Clearly record outcomes of intervention in line with evidence-based practice
Establishing and maintaining positive working relations with the community and specialist occupational therapy teams across Worcestershire
Providing clinical supervision to trusted assessor colleagues within PILS as needed
Mentoring and providing specialist advice to colleagues on individual cases relating to health and care needs
Contributing to the organisation and running of information and advice events in a variety of settings across Worcestershire
Organising and delivering equipment awareness sessions and other training as appropriate
Ensure monitoring of quality and compliance with standards is demonstrable within your clinical practice whilst ensuring day to day practice reflects the highest standards of governance, clinical effectiveness, safety and service user experience
Promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults
Maintain up to date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and issues in relation to adaptations and equipment
Comply with all relevant policies, procedures and guidelines and Information Governance related policies
Ensure that all duties are carried out in accordance with current quality initiatives within the work area
Participate and contribute as required with clinical audit, evaluation and research activities

About You:

BSc (Hons) Degree in OT/Diploma equivalent.
Current HCPC professional registration
Minimum of 5 years' experience post qualification, working within Health, Social Care settings or other relevant settings
Experience of supervising small groups of staff is essential
Extensive experience of Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention within a home environment
Experience of prescribing community equipment is desirable
Previous experience of working with adults and older people with complex needs
Current UK driving licence (minimum 3 years) and access to your own vehicle and a willingness to travel is essential
