Senior Counsel, Mergers & AcquisitionsSenior Counsel, Mergers & AcquisitionsWould you like to be an in-house M&A lawyer in a FTSE 30 company? We currently have a vacancy for an experienced full time M&A lawyer based at our Head Office, St James's, London site. You will be expected to work in the office for around 2 - 3 days per week, to enable some face to face working with the rest of the team, with the ability to otherwise work from homeThe role requires the ability to deliver pragmatic advice and solutions in relation to complex M&A matters. You will be working as part of a broader cross-functional team which will provide exposure to corporate finance and strategy as well as cutting edge engineering expertise. This is an opportunity to take a leading role on international acquisitions, disposals and joint ventures across the entire BAE Systems business including Air, Maritime, Land and Applied Intelligence.As Senior Counsel - M&A, you will be reporting to the Chief Counsel of M&A, and supported by a junior lawyer and a Legal PA. You will be part of the Head Office Legal function, a vibrant legal community that will encourage and support enabling you to develop both as a lawyer and a business professional.Your main responsibilities as a Senior Counsel, Mergers & Acquisitions will involve:Providing professional and pro-active M&A law support to senior executivesNegotiating M&A transactions - acquisitions, disposals and joint venturesInstructing external counsel and managing budgetsParticipating in strategic reviews of M&A targetsTaking a leading role in co-ordinating and supporting colleagues during M&A transactions - particularly in due diligenceProviding training on M&A law and policy to various functional and business areasYour skills and qualifications:Qualified solicitor or barrister with an 4-8 years PQE M&A experience, ideally with in-house experienceExperience of defence sector or other regulated sectors (desirable)Experience of concluding major international M&A transactionsGood ability to analyse legal and commercial riskHigh level negotiation, influencing skills and drafting skillsAbility to manage conflicting demands of simultaneous transactionsGood people and resource management skillsWhat we're looking for in you:You'll be able to hit the ground running.
