We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join the Perform Plus and Digital Centre of Excellence team, part of PwC Consulting. Your role will initially be focused on data engineering supporting development of data insights in Perform Plus - PwC's award winning operational excellence approach powered by smart technology and data. Perform Plus is a team sprint/huddle solution that allows clients teams and individuals to improve their performance, change behaviours and manage challenges in their work. You will also get involved in the development of a new Digital Centre of Excellence to help develop a next generation of PwC Consulting products, that use modern data science, engineering and technology approaches.

As a Senior Data Engineer you will have a proven track record of designing and delivering data engineering solutions on cloud to support analytics use cases. You will be experienced in modern approaches to data pipelines, and should be skilled in data transformation, supporting analytics as part of production ready solutions on cloud.

You will be a strong communicator, consultant and advocate for modern approaches. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to manage small project teams and inspire others to solve problems, under pressure, end-to-end with data.

Requirements

  • Educated to degree level in - for example - Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or other STEM, or have equivalent experience.

  • A strong team player with empathy, humility and dedication to joint success and shared development;

  • Candidates must have demonstrable practical project experience (professional, academic or personal), able to demonstrate the following skills:

    • The intellectual curiosity and drive to seek out, learn, and then apply new data techniques and tools in a fast paced environment

    • Show experience in owning client relationships and managing them throughout the engagement lifecycle;

    • Commercially curious: we want you to be able to understand a business area and its strategic outcomes, the business processes and metrics that drive performance;

Technical skills required:

  • Strong experience of modern ETL approaches on cloud (e.g. Data Factory, Apache Beam, Pub/Sub, CI/CD pipelines, Cloud Functions, Relational Databases, NoSQL databases).

  • Strong experience in SQL and Python, and optionally other languages (Go, Java etc).

  • Strong experience in designing data models and transformation for insights.

  • Optional experience in supporting pre-processing for machine learning and deep learning use cases, e.g. in DataBricks/Spark and/or Tensorflow.

  • Practical understanding of Data & Analytics Architectures, definition of KPIs / metrics and insight requirements

  • Experience in broader set of capabilities of cloud and how they integrate and interact with data engineering.
