Job description
Heartbeat Health is a venture-backed health tech startup in New York. We are working to deliver the most effective, efficient, and engaging virtual heart care in the world. By 2030, over 40% of the US population will have heart disease, with direct and indirect costs approaching $1 trillion USD. Heart disease may be the most important health crisis we confront in our time.
Heartbeat addresses this problem via virtual cardiology services that include diagnostic interpretation, telecardiology, and procedural referrals to bring virtual-first care to cardiology, and improve the outcomes and efficiency for cardiac patients.
Our team consists of passionate and proven physicians, engineers, scientists, designers, and founders attacking this problem from first principles, applying human-centered design, and developing evidence-based AI to solve this global issue. We collaborate with the American College of Cardiology, and we have been recognized as one of the 150 most promising digital health startups by CB Insights. Heartbeat Health is seeking a stellar Senior Platform Engineer to join our team. About the gig:
- Set best practices for services to scale, perform, and exceed enterprise SLAs requirements
- Create a culture that promotes accountability and ownership over service monitoring and performance
- Tune use of resources and deploy microservices on AWS
- Analyze logs and errors for opportunities for improvement through gradual changes
- Automate provisioning and configuration of production systems using Kubernetes, Terraform, Grafana, Prometheus, and Jaeger
We are looking for an exceptional, experienced Senior Platform Engineer. You're open to new ideas, thoughtful in your approach, pragmatic in your delivery, constantly learning, and up for a challenge. You elevate the work of those around you. You want the superpower to save millions of lives. Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience as a backend engineer or SRE in an AWS environment
- 5+ years of experience implementing and maintaining NoSQL and SQL databases
- Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins
- Experience with JVM languages like Kotlin, Java, or Scala as a backend engineer or through supporting deployments in a JVM ecosystem
- Deep understanding of networking concepts
- Demonstrate strong fundamentals in computer science, preferably with an undergraduate or graduate degree in a related field
- Can work closely with team members of various backgrounds, encouraging different perspectives and feedback to constantly improve product and process
- Are comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment
- A plus if you have worked on HIPAA, SOC2, NIST, ISO, or HITRUST compliance
- Passion for building dashboards and creating tooling that increases visibility
