Part-time English Teacher required in Newham to start immediately

Job description

One of our schools based in Newham are seeking a part-time English teacher to teach KS3-4 every Friday to cover a maternity cover.

The students within our school are no longer able to attend mainstream school or attend a PRU due to the severity of their behaviour.

This role requires extreme resilience, care and commitment due to the challenges.

We will only be putting forward committed English teachers (QTS), staff that can and will make a difference to a child's school life regardless of the challenges they may face within the role.

A number of students are prone to violence, swearing etc to which the school will provide extra training to deescalate situations that may arise.

Everyday is different within this role!

There will be 6-8 students in each lesson & each student has a support worker in place.

The hours of work are 8.30am - 4pm and on training/meeting days until 4.30pm

Please apply if you have the following:

- Experience teaching English to students with challenging behaviour
- Able to commit for the full maternity cover until at least July 2022
- Qualified teacher status(QTS)
- Able to work every Friday
- Hold a key interest in the general welfare and development of students
- Attendance at meetings to set and monitor targets for pupils. These meetings may be with external agencies, such as Social Services.
- Prepare teaching materials
- To assist with any other duties allocated by the head teacher
- To attend after school training/meetings
