Job description

A new position has opened at Richmond Pharmacology for a Drug Safety Research Physician. The role has been created to meet the continued growth of the business and reflects the increasing complexity inherent in some of our trials. The role is likely to suit a Research Physician with prior experience of working in a clinical trials unit.

The successful candidate will join a growing team of Research Physicians and, while also being expected to take up some of the more common clinical tasks of a Research Physician, will become the lead in development of drug safety algorithms and will adopt primary responsibility for Adverse Event, and Adverse Drug Effect reporting. Key relationships beyond the Principal Investigators and Research Physicians will be the Pharmacovigilance Team, Study Management and Clinical Project Management team and the rest of the clinical staff, as well as the data management and data processing departments. ‍

Key requirements

GMC Registered with licence to practice in the UK

Previous experience of clinical trials (preferably phase 1)

Sound understanding of all aspects of drug safety reporting

1 year of Pharmaceutical Medicine Specialty Training completed

The role will suit a Physician relatively early in their Research career who has started PMST and may be looking for an alternative setting to develop their skills and continue the pursuit of Specialist Training. Richmond Pharmacology is a registered education site for PMST and is closely aligned with the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine. The incoming doctor will need previous experience of clinical trials and should be familiar with the standards of safety reporting associated with the industry. It is anticipated that the successful doctor will also be published and will accustomed to presenting research work at relevant conference and events. Teaching experience would also be attractive. ‍
