NGS Data Analyst - London Based Scale-Up Biotech

Hays Life Sciences are searching for a Data Analyst to join a London based biotechnology company with a lead product that specialises on rapid molecular diagnostics testing. The work will be focused on developing a new industry leading NGS platform and analysing output data. Our client has been supporting the UK government over the past 12 months by providing rapid diagnostic testing equipment to identify SARS-CoV-2 sequences. They now are developing their platform to be used in multiple healthcare applications to provide clinicians with point-of-need information to help save patient's lives. You will be directly working on the NGS platform, developing this cutting-edge technology working to make a real impact on patient's lives.

Your New Role

* We are sourcing a skilled data analyst to join the science team. You will be responsible for the development of signal processing and data analysis algorithms for a NGS platform.
* Deep analysis of data sets including processing of raw electronic signals generated by the NGS platform.
* Development of data visualisation techniques to aid lab work.
* Working in partnership with the laboratory teams to gain feedback on experiments and process redesign.
* Working on methods to improve the signal processing algorithms.
* Completion of all documentation to adhere to quality management, aligned to ISO 13485.
* Involved in the design and implementation of high-throughput automated primary DNA sequencing signal analysis software.

What You'll Need to Succeed

* Strong academic background with the candidate possessing a MSc or PhD in a relevant subject.
* Extensive knowledge and fluency in R, SQL, MatLab and Python and related libraries.
* Proven mathematical skills, with a task\/goal-oriented approach.
* The candidate will need to possess experience and understanding of raw signal processing, data analysis, and data visualisation.
* Highly self-motivated candidate with innovative problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication skills, ability to effectively work in a team environment.
* Demonstrated experience with Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS), ideally ISFET-based would be desirable.
* Knowledge of bioinformatics formats would also be ideal
