Project Engineer
Our Opening and Your Responsibilities
We are recruiting for a Project Engineer to join our Customer Engineering team in Royston.
The role will develop appropriate verification methodologies and drive delivery of evidence-based demonstration of compliance with regulatory standards and customer requirements. This activity is vital part of the development lifecycle of specialist X-ray inspection equipment. These projects, which develop equipment for the food and pharma industries typically last between 2 and 6 months, ranging in complexity from simple modifications to significant customisations to meet specific and exacting customer requirements.
The Project Engineer will also play an integral part in facilitating the Factory Acceptance Test as part of the final delivery process.
Key responsibilities include:
* Provide V&V support to the project management and design functions. Create Qualification Programme Planning to ensure that all aspects of a machine's design are demonstrated and suitable for their application.
* Participates in the testing, analysis, and reporting of system and component level verification conducted during product development, along with completing associated machine risk assessment during design
* Contributes to writing documentation for Design Verification and Validation (V&V) processes and tools
* Develops and executes tests to exercise the product, verify requirements, and reveal potential defects
* Participates with the project team in continuous improvement of development processes for hardware and electrical systems, and ensuring the team keeps current with all compliance requirements
* Develop the verification methodology to ensure there are no issues with a product prior to manufacture.
* Define and manage strategies to evaluate performance of developmental parts, assemblies, or systems under simulated operating conditions.
* Provide technical assistance and resolution when engineering problems are encountered before, during, and after construction culminating in successful Factory Acceptance Tests.
* Review existing engineering criteria to identify necessary revisions, deletions, or amendments to outdated material.
* Collaborate with other personnel to identify, define, or solve developmental problems.
* Conduct inspections for quality control and assurance programs, reporting findings and recommendations.
* Plan method or sequence of operations for developing or testing.
* Analyse and interpret test information to resolve design-related problems
What You Need to Succeed
* Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g. Automotive, Aerospace, rail, Oil & Gas).
* Working experience of in an Equipment Service Environment not essential but would be an advantage
* Demonstrated understanding of the design and integration of complex electro-mechanical products
* Demonstrated ability to define and execute product validation strategies (e.g. EMC, environmental, durability, software validation etc)
* Able to interpret customer specifications and engineering drawings
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Familiarity with rules, regulations and standards associated with machinery design and food production would be an advantage, but not essential
* Competent in use of Excel, Word, Visio & Powerpoint and Smart Sheets
