Overview of an Housing Officer - Homelessness
Pertemps have an exciting opportunity within Harrow Council for a self-driven and motivated Housing Officer - Homelessness, to join an expanding team.
The role of an Housing Officer - Homelessness has a competitive pay rate of £17.10 per hour. Other benefits include excellent training and support for career development and 21 days holiday (excluding Bank Holidays).

The Main Purpose of an Housing Officer - Homelessness
" To operate and maintain databases and other records to ensure that information on systems and client records is comprehensive and up to date.
" To maintain a caseload of households living in emergency, temporary and leased accommodation so that general and complex queries are dealt with professionally and following Contracts and corporate timescales.
" To provide a full management service to tenancies in leased accommodation, including rent collection.
" To participate in the allocation process of all types of accommodation so that void payments and rent loss are kept to a minimum.
" To deliver the highest standard of customer care at all times.
" To verify Housing Benefit documents to ensure they comply with statutory requirements to enable rents payment to be made.
" To negotiate and communicate with property owners, agents and other providers so that suitable accommodation is secured to meet targets.
" To inspect hotels, hostels and other accommodation to assess the quality and suitability under current legislation and local standards.

About you, the successful candidate will have:
" Ability to implement anti-discriminatory practices and procedures
" Awareness of barriers likely to affect homeless clients
" Experience of dealing with people in stressful situations
" Experience in inputting and retrieving data from a computer system
" Understanding the needs of homeless persons
" A good understanding of the key issues facing local authorities, particularly in Housing Services

Please note that the candidate needs to hold a driving license and have access to a vehicle.
