Job Purpose:

We are looking for a DevOps engineer to drive a step-change improvement in the quality, reliability and performance of our software products. As an ambitious wealth management organisation undergoing digital transformation, we are looking for a seasoned engineer to champion and embed the latest development practices and foster operational excellence in our application development. With support from our senior leadership team, we are committed to modernising our ways of working and looking for someone who bring the latest thinking to life amongst new and established technical teams.

Key Responsibilities:

In your role, you'll use your experience in software development and operations to:

  • Promote the latest engineering thinking, especially in the areas of test automation, observability, continuous delivery, chaos engineering and DevOps
  • Foster operational excellence and transparency by supporting teams in the adoption and monitoring of service level indicators and objectives (SLI/SLOs)
  • Drive a significant increase in automation and reduction in manual toil in the engineering process
  • Implement modern operational practices, implementing on-call, incident response and post-mortem processes that make the best use of empowered engineering teams
  • Embed and nurture a culture of continuous improvement in all our engineering

You'll be able to demonstrate having done many of the following things in your previous work:

  • Developed and operated modern customer-facing web and/or mobile applications in the cloud
  • Implemented continuous delivery practices e.g. building and improving CI/CD pipelines and automated testing infrastructure
  • Introduced tools to increase the observability, monitoring or performance of existing systems
  • Been involved in on-call support for production systems, as well as post-mortems, root cause analysis and troubleshooting activity
  • Persuaded other engineers to introduce new practices, acting as a positive force for change

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (preferably Terraform)
  • Strong working knowledge of the Azure ecosystem (Azure storage account, APIM, Azure functions, VNet, CDN, monitor etc)
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines as code (Preferably GitHub Actions, TeamCity and Octopus Deploy)
  • Strong focus on testability of all code deployed
  • Knowledge of Azure serverless offerings
  • Nice to have : experience in JavaScript/TypeScript is desireable
