Job description
You will be a highly experienced, dynamic professional with a strong background in Performing Arts and in education who will take responsibility for the leadership, creative development and delivery of Higher Education courses. You will be directly accountable for the quality and delivery of the curriculum and will work in conjunction with college teams and the wider BIMM team to ensure quality of experience and educational outcomes for your students.An ability to understand and effectively manage course leaders, module leaders, pathway leaders, principal lecturers and freelance teachers who are also creatives or entrepreneurial practitioners is vital. You must be a team player who is used to working to tight deadlines and to ensuring that staff and students alike are able to meet exacting standards of educational excellence.You will be directly accountable for assessment arrangements and the recording and reporting of data to examination boards.The role will necessitate strong communication with tutors and curriculum teams to ensure teaching and learning is of the highest standard. The role will also include interaction with other BIMM colleges to ensure parity and compliance.Essential CriteriaA good level of experience within Higher Education managementExcellent people management and leadership skillsWell honed skills in an area of the performing arts as well as relevant industry experienceExperience of working with Further and Higher Education InstitutionsExcellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skillsAn ability to effectively manage a varied workloadExcellent time management and prioritisation skillsAble to work effectively in a standalone capacity or as part of a teamExcellent level of IT skillsFlexibility to meet the operational demands of the roleStrong background in the delivery of quality teaching and learningExperience of dealing with an awarding partnerA degree level qualification in a relevant areaA teaching qualification (or a willingness to work towards)Desirable CriteriaAn MA level qualificationKey Accountabilities1) Curriculum ManagementResponsible for the management and co-ordination of all lecturers, pathway and module leaders for all degree courses ensuring the effective delivery of all courses.Review learning resources and schemes of work to ensure high quality content that provides opportunities for students to be challenged academically and developed creatively, to embed employability skills and promote the practical application of theoretical knowledge.Ensure the creation of high quality content for the ICTheatre Canvas VLE that enhances learning and teaching.Responsible for the management of the Academic TeamTo Chair HE Management Group and Course meetings reporting to College Management Team.Contribute to the development of new courses and re-validation of existing courses.2) Quality Assurance and Annual MonitoringOversee the annual review of all HE courses.Oversee the authorship of HE annual monitoring reports with a consistent editorial voice.Monitor HE course specific action plans ensuring intended outcomes are measurable, address issues and inform the enhancement of learning, teaching and assessment.Oversee the development and approval of HE courses handbooks and schemes of work.Contribute to the development of course documentation in consultation with other BIMM colleagues and to be approved by academic committee.To Chair of Board of Studies on a termly basis.Ensure accuracy of course documentation available via ICTheatre/BIMM VLE.To effectively implement actions in response to National Student Survey action plan, with a focus on clear evaluation of the effectiveness of the actions carried out.Represent ICTheatre on group wide committees, as required.3) AssessmentOversee and be accountable for examination and assessment arrangements in accordance with published BIMM / ICTheatre procedures and awarding body requirements.Oversee the production of assessments schedules and assessment feedback templates.Ensure accuracy of assessment documentation and submission portals available via ICTheatre/BIMM VLE.Responsible for HE assessment data reporting through to assessment boards.Being accountable for student success rates measured against KPIs.To Deputy Chair college assessment boards.4) Tutor Leadership and DevelopmentCoordinate tutor, module leader, and course leader CPDMake recommendations for tutors to be considered for PG Cert Learning and Teaching qualification.Support module leaders in their duties holding them to account in the key accountabilities.Undertake annual tutor observations working as part of the observation team.5) Student Support and Student VoiceLiaise with Student Services to ensure effective support is in place for all HE students, including tutorials.Work with Student Services, Course Leaders, Heads of Department and lecturers to respond to issues with attendance and engagement, proactively devising and implementing strategies for improvement.Liaise with Student Support professionals to support learners with additional learning support needs.Ensure effective student representation including an effective feedback cycle that is visible to all stakeholders.Monitor and encourage student engagement with module and course surveys.6) External Events and AdvocacyRepresenting the College as required at external events as agreed by the College Principal.Involvement in Open Days as and when required, assisting in the delivery of information to prospective students.NB: This is not a complete statement of all duties and responsibilities of this post.
