Job description

The primary responsibility of this role is to set and deliver a strategy for reliability and fitness for process of plant and equipment for our clients upper tier COMAH chemical manufacturing plant based in Greater Manchester.

Key Responsibilities:

* Deliver plant uptime at an optimal level consistent with Departmental budgets using reactive, preventative and condition-based maintenance.

* Drive investigations into mechanical failures and implement solutions based on Good Engineering Practice.

* Lead multi-disciplinary teams to fault-find complex mechanical plant reliability issues.

* Ensure that mechanical maintenance routines are prioritised and are suitable and sufficient to enhance reliability, compliance, safety, and value for money.

* Deliver day-to-day support to Operations for technical solutions to reliability issues.

* Deliver technical support and leadership to the Craft Team as required including guidance on fault-finding, Engineering Standards, and Purchasing specifications for current or obsolete management

* Membership of the site MEC team to deal with Major Emergencies on the Upper Tier COMAH site, and to be rota-based duty MEC lead for out-of-hours response.

* Involvement in Process Safety (e.g. HAZOP) processes

Job Dimensions:

* Problem solving for immediate difficulties that are beyond the level that a Mechanical Technician can address.

* Evaluating Third Party Mechanical Competent Person reports and challenging where necessary.

* Driving and implementing change through the MOC process and navigating competing priorities for multi-departmental stakeholders

Education/Experience:

* Degree in Engineering with significant Mechanical component

* Negotiating and persuasive interpersonal skills
