We're looking for a Python Engineer to join one of the largest Global Media Provider on a long-term project to enhance their performance engineering capabilities.

Initial contract until June 2022 (further extension)

You will be:

Responsible for developing features to enhance performance engineering software that has been developed by the department. You'll be implementing all manner of performance and resiliency testing, monitoring and dashboarding, in accordance with the standards of the Reliability Engineering team. You will also investigate reliability and performance issues and drive improvement throughout the rest of the division.

Responsibilities will include:

· Driving improvements and adoption of test frameworks, following the principles of the open source movement

· Developing software to enhance the performance engineering capability of the department

· Comfortable with taking full ownership of the non-functional test process, that includes ownership of the sign-off of release builds and in-depth issue investigation

· Performing non-functional testing within an agile software development environment with a view to aiding continuous delivery

· Building and designing real world test scenarios that are integrated into the continuous delivery pipeline

· M aintaining health of test environment and test injection infrastructure

· Simulating failures and chaos testing to prove highly available and heavily resilient systems (circuit breakers, kill switches, active-active)

Skills:

• High level programming/scripting skills in Python
• Working experience in Unix/Linux systems
• Be familiar with communication protocols/technologies, HTTP/HTTPS is essential
• Some experience with monitoring/visualization/time series database technologies is desirable
• Knowledge and experience of containerisation e.g. Docker, Kubernetes or Rancher would be useful
• Ability to recommend performance enhancing changes to the platform to resolve issues.
• Strong problem-solving skills and experience investigating technical issues
