Who are MissionLabs?

Mission Labs is one of the fastest-growing technology scale-ups in the North West. We design, build and manage modern, cloud-native communication technologies through our CircleLoop & SmartAgent products.

This Backend Software Engineer role will see you working within CircleLoop - our next-generation business phone system. Released in 2016, CircleLoop is a modern SaaS business phone experience that casts aside clumsy cables, clunky hardware and complicated SIP connections. Instead, providing an experience that is completely self-service, easy to set up and best of all - packaged in powerful desktop & mobile apps to unleash customers from the dreaded desk phone!

What does a Software Engineer do here?

Ultimately, you will be helping to drive CircleLoop toward becoming an integrated communications platform that impacts the way people experience "phone calls" globally.

As a Software Engineer, you'll be responsible for:

Collaborating with our in-house development teams to scope-out new features.
Interpreting specifications to ensure calls are routed correctly throughout the platform.
Building out new product features with JavaScript, Node.js + React
Working alongside native app developers to ensure desktop & mobile features are consistent across experiences
Ensuring third-party integration services are stable and well tested
Supporting our Customer Success teams in a range of ways* who manage our clients both big and small, from 1 to 50+ users.

*These might be creating or updating Lambdas to do specific jobs, refactoring code and testing phone calls on EC2 services, analysing and improving how we handle SIP and WebRTC traffic, or improving how we interact with DynamoDB and Elasticsearch.

JavaScript + TypeScript
Node.js + React.js
EC2, Lambda, API-Gateway, Dynamo, Kinesis
Native Mobile in Java/Kotlin + Swift/Swift UI

What experience we need to see from you:

Daily development with modern JavaScript ES6
Strong application and API development experience with Node.js
A passion for building highly testable, effective and maintainable system
Nice to have -> experience with some AWS Services - ideally Lambda, EC2 and API-Gateway
Good knowledge of software design fundamentals/principles (e.g. SOLID)
