Job description

Overall Purpose of Job
To ensure smooth running of the warehouse to ensure that all spares coming in to the factory, being stored at the factory and despatched from the factory are properly accounted for, stored in an orderly and safe manner. Supplying spares to our customers and packing return shipments as necessary. Participation in the evening and weekend call-out rota.

Accountabilities
Regular rotation of duties, spending time in goods-in, picking/despatch and progressing site requests.
To work with spares and technical support staff to ensure a smooth flow between departments.
Goods in
1.
Receive goods in checking they are correct in terms of quantity and quality.
2.
Put goods away in appropriate locations safely and orderly.
3.
Mark electronic parts with permanent marker as in accordance with spares process.
4.
Ensure all supplier labels are removed on external parts delivered in.
5.
Ensure similar parts are placed on separate trays where possible.
6.
Perform a rolling inventory on stock as goods are placed, advising administrators of differences.
7.
Assist the spares department in the maintenance and control of all stores materials including warranty returns.
8.
Ensure all returned warranty parts are inspected.
9.
Ensure site boxes are inspected and rectifications are made.
10.
Ensure returned tools are inspected for any defects and advised if not fit for purpose
11.
Ensure storage space is constantly optimised.
Picking and Despatch
1.
Pick the correct parts from stores.
2.
Undertake light assembly of system components as needed.
3.
Daily packing of customer orders ensuring consignments are packed securely and adequately for each order.
4.
Organise parcels ready for carriers and organise and prepare the labels and documentation, advising colleagues of non-shipments or issues as they arise.
5.
Ensure weights and dimensions of packages are communicated to the office.
6.
Input the details of consignments onto the courier websites to produce despatch labels and create manifests.
7.
Inspect gas meters/slings/loler (jacks & skates) before each use.
Site Requests
Works orders are created by the Purchasing department and the picking list is issued to the Spares department.
The Spares Warehouse Operative will pick, pack and build all parts required, ready for despatch.
The Spares Warehouse Operative then creates the commercial invoice for every international site request.
The commercial invoice must include information such as the country of origin, standard cost and commodity code for every part or assembly on the site request. If this information is not available in SAGE, the Purchasing department is approached to provide it
