Job description

Harris Hill is recruiting for a Director of Finance and IT for this Health Charity based in Oxford

  • Reports To: Chief Executive
  • Responsible For: Deputy Director of Finance and Finance Team & Outsourced IT Support Services
  • Position: Full Time Permanent
  • Flexible Working: A least 2 days a week ideally would be based at their offices in Oxford
  • Salary: £72,000pa - £82,000pa

Overall Responsibilities:

  • To bring financial leadership to the charity, Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Board, to develop and deliver the charity's strategic plan. Provision of timely and well informed strategic financial advice to the charity's management and Board
  • Responsibility for IT strategy, systems and GDPR compliance, ensuring security and adherence to laws and regulations
  • The implementation and delivery of the financial activities of the charity, including planning, forecasting, timely and accurate reporting and liaison with external stakeholders including auditors, bankers, statutory authorities and partner organisations
  • Ensure that the charity operates sound financial, internal control and risk management systems to safeguard stakeholders' interest and assets ensure the integrity of the financial and organisational statements
  • Lead, motivate and develop the Finance team as a pro-active partnering team with a culture of continuous improvement. Demonstrate and promote the values of the charity including equality, diversity and inclusivity
  • Act as Company Secretary to the organisation

Management:

  • Budget management: overall responsibility for the charity's budget management, and specific responsibility for Finance and IT budgets

Property Portfolio Responsibility:

  • Responsible for financial elements of the Estates strategy

Main Duties:

  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all the charity's internal and external financial reporting statements and full compliance with all covenants, laws and regulations
  • In partnership with the CEO, COO and SLT, develop and support in the delivery of the charity's corporate strategy and the related budgets and projections, and in delivering the agreed strategy and budgets/projections once they have been approved by the Board
  • Provide commercial business insights to advise the CEO and SLT on the financial position risks and opportunities of the charity

Ideal Qualifications and experience:

  • Professional qualification in accountancy (ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA
  • Commercial understanding and experience of tendering exercises
  • Analytical and financial astuteness, able to maintain control
  • Knowledge of property investments
  • Excellent understanding of IT systems and technology
  • Knowledge of funding opportunities available to meet the housing and support needs of individuals
  • Awareness of the principles of fundraising
  • Overview of Tendering and Commissioning
