Job description
BIM Engineer
Location: Bath
Salary: Permanent Opportunity - £30,000 - £36,000
Do you want to use your BIM knowledge and engineering experience to drive strategy and innovation in an expanding organisation? If so, I am working with a client providing a great opportunity for you to join their team as a BIM Engineer based out in Bath.
Job Role:
This exciting role will see you report to the Principal Digital Engineer and work alongside my client's in-house design and construction teams, playing a key role in developing their BIM capability within very challenging timescales.
Their engineering and construction division is a multi-disciplinary design and construct contractor, responsible for the delivery of an annual programme of water treatment, wastewater and network projects across the Wessex Water region. To ensure they maintain their values of safety, quality, time and costs, they have embarked on a mission to deliver a digital engineering capability that is the best in the industry.
Your main responsibilities will be to produce regulation-compliant and cost-effective designs that meet business specifications using modern production techniques. You'll do this by actively contributing to project design development, collaborating closely with project stakeholders throughout the whole project lifecycle and contributing to coordination, clash detection and design review workshops.
You'll be producing intelligent 3D models and constantly adding more value by extracting information directly from the model, 2D drawings, pipe schedules, setting out, base maps and GIS data too. You'll also analyse and manipulate models and drawings from their suppliers and partners.
Requirements:
This role is suited to an ambitious professional who wants to build upon their BIM and design experience. You should preferably have a degree in mechanical or civil engineering or another similar discipline with previous experience in the Water/Wastewater sector.
Your previous experience will also have given you an awareness of health and safety, including CDM issues, design risks and ideally have a good understanding of PAS 1192 and ISO 19650 though not essential.
You'll need to be proficient in at least one of the common CAD or BIM design software packages, such as Autodesk Civils 3D, Navisworks or Revit, with the ability to pick up new software quickly too.
Naturally, you'll need well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly build and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. You must also demonstrate excellent report writing skills and the ability to write, implement and maintain BIM Execution Plans.
Benefits working for the client:
They are proud of how they support development and career progression. They have a wealth of both financial and non-financial benefits to offer their people and are committed to ensuring they provide an environment that supports health and well-being and flexible working.
