Quality Engineer
Our client is one of the UK's largest producers of corrugated packaging for the Trade. They have a vision of becoming an indispensable partner to their customers, delivered through operational excellence and a highly engaged workforce. They are currently recruiting for a Quality Engineer to join the team at Weston super Mare.
Working within an operations environment the Quality Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and implementing all aspects of the Site Quality Management system to continually improve the sites' performance in Quality and Hygiene.
Key elements of the role involve:
Support maintenance of the site-wide Quality Management System and Food Safety management system (ISO9001:2015 and BRC Packaging Issue 6).
Maintains Customer complaints system to achieve accurate records and effective reduction of complaints.
Leading and coordinating Root Cause Analysis and support routine quality investigations for any on line quality issues which arise within production.
Undertakes leadership of 8D projects, supported by Quality Manager.
Supports customers with quality issues and queries.
Coordinate the control of non-conformance, in process, finished and returned products including assessment and disposition.
Undertake testing and data collection for analysis, conducting basic statistical evaluation (e.g. Cpk) and generates report of results.
Conducting internal audits, process and factory audits, traceability and recall tests, identifying non-conformances and proposes opportunities for improvements.
Assists / Facilitates formal third party audits.
Maintains and improves the QMS controlled documentation and assists with the generation and review of documentation (SOP's) for other departments.
Supports the training and development of employees in Quality /BRC procedures.
Coordinates programme of Calibration of testing equipment and equipment verification.
On occasions, you may be required to deputise for the Quality Manager to suit business needs.
Some occasional travel to other sites or to customer sites may be required.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
Experience in a demanding, fast moving manufacturing environment.
Minimum qualification to 'A' Level/HNC standard.
Preferably 3 years' experience in a quality environment.
Computer literate - Excel, Powerpoint, Word.
Demonstrates a desire to fully meet customer requirements. Takes ownership and motivates others to want to achieve a quality result.
Preferable to have a detailed knowledge of the ISO 9001 &/or BRC standards.
Understanding of 8D, SPC, FMEA, 5 Why and other quality tools. Preferably formally trained in Six sigma techniques.
Demonstrates initiative. self-disciplined, maintains duties without significant supervision and is able to prioritise.
Liaise with the business's process staff and customer to bring about a continual improvement culture relationship between the company and its customers.
Preferably formal training or demonstrable experience in Lean manufacturing techniques.
Communication skills - (verbal) Must be clear, concise and correct / (written) Must present information graphically and in writing.
