Job description

Smile are currently working in collaboration with a secondary school in Wolverhampton who would like to welcome a student mentor to join their team, full time on a permanent basis.

The school are looking to recruit a confident mentor to join their large team of educators, to support secondary age students on a pastoral basis. The role will see the successful individual support a group of students who are assigned to them for the spring and summer term, monitoring and recording their progress. As the successful candidate, this position will see you work alongside the SENCo and heads of year, to support children outside the classroom in breakout sessions.

To be successful in your application, you should hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, degree or equivalent. Previous experience of supporting children within in an education setting is required for this role.

The successful candidate will have a passion for working with young people and an ability to communicate effectively with both children and adults. You will be able to inspire the child that you work with on a daily basis ensuring that they make good progress.

About the Role:

- Key Stage 3/4 student mentor (pastoral responsibility)
- 5 days a week, term-time only
- Immediate start date available or January 2022
- Working 1:1 and with small groups
- Monitoring and recording pupil progress

About You:

- Relevant qualification
- Caring and nurturing personality
- You must have a minimum of 12 months experience with young people
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Work well as a team
- Positive attitude
