Alpha 3Alpha 3 is an Avnet-owned electronic engineering company, supporting a wide range of customers with cable harnesses, electrical components and complex electrical mechanical assemblies via four business divisions. Each division focuses on different services, from CCS and CTL supporting customers with sub contract manufacturing of cable and electro mechanical assemblies, to DEM designing and manufacturing electrical components and Tekdata in delivering high integrity, high performance cable harnesses.We are recruiting an experienced Buyer , based in Stoke-On-Trent, Staffordshire . This is a full-time position , on a permanent contract . The successful candidate will report to the Supply Chain Manager .The role will involve placing purchase orders and expediting deliveries in line with the MRP system.As a successful candidate you will have excellent communication, influencing and negotiating skills . You will be self-motivated and adaptive depending on the needs and demands of the role and will be resilient and tenacious in your approach. You will have a flair for problem solving . With your hands on approach you will have the ability to work under pressure .DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Create purchase orders in line with MRP and forecasting systems to align with Customer orders.Expedite to meet changing production requirements.Identify any supplier issues, e.g., delivery timescales, price increases, obsolescence, MOQ requirements, etc., to the Supply Chain Manager in a timely manner.Negotiate best pricing and improved delivery times for new quotes and source alternatives for obsolete components by working with engineering and sales departments.To work with Quality to ensure that suppliers are meeting the required standards of quality and delivery.Create supplier masters, supplier cross-references and maintain prime supplier and lead time parameters to ensure internal systems are up to date.Control of non-MS consumables with a view to developing a robust purchasing and control system for same.Work with the Supply Chain Manager to create and control a Preferred Supplier List.From time to time, additional duties and responsibilities will also be required in line with Company requirements.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:EssentialEducated to higher level - NVQ 3 or above/similar.Be an excellent communicator both verbally and in written formats.Computer literate in Microsoft Office inc. Excel and Word at minimum of intermediate level.Proven people skills.DesirableIdeally the post holder will have or be working towards a professional Procurement qualification (e.g. CIPS).Experience within an electronics/manufacturing environment would be advantageous.Planning & forecasting software experience (e.g. MRP) would be advantageous.The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
