Job description
As part of our greener future strategies and our commitment to creating a healthy work-life balance, we welcome a conversation with you regarding our remote working options. Remote working to us is a balance of spending time in our communities, our offices and working from home or wherever works best
The starting salary for this role is £24,780 per annum for 36 hours per week.
There's never been a more exciting time to join Adult Social Care. We've had a major review of how we work and are currently implementing these changes. Recent world events have shown how important the role of key workers are, and we would like to invite you to consider how you could be part of that valuable workforce.
Our vision is 'Working with all our partners to make a difference to the lives of people, through trusted, personalised and universal social care support, so people have choice and control, and can maximise their wellbeing and independence in their local community'.
Promoting independence, choice and control is at the heart of this position. This is an exciting opportunity to work with people to maximise their potential for independence.
You will have frequent direct contact with the public on the phone as well as visiting them in their own home or care setting. Your role will be to assist qualified practitioners with a variety of tasks, including assessing peoples needs and carrying out regular reviews. You will frequently be the first point of contact between the public and the service, gathering initial information and identifying the need for further assessment, as well as signposting people to other services.
You will work in partnership with individuals, their carers, professional staff in other agencies, service providers and Support Brokers in order to support vulnerable adults and their families to identify and arrange services that meet their needs and promote independence, choice and control.
Social Care Assistants will hold a caseload of individuals and carers who will generally have a support plan in place that requires routine monitoring. Applicants will enjoy working with people and have experience of direct work with the public as part of paid or voluntary work, although they may have limited or no experience of visiting people in their own homes or care settings.
You will need to have competent basic IT skills and be able and willing to learn to use a variety of software systems. All short-listed applicants will be required to complete an IT assessment as part of the interview process. The work involves travelling within Surrey, therefore you will need to be a car driver and have access to a car.
Post holders may work with any combination, or all, of the following care groups: older people, people with physical, sensory, cognitive impairments, people with a learning disability and people with mental health problems.
At Surrey, our values and behaviours are just as important as our skills and abilities. They shape who we are as an organisation. Find out more about the values we follow.
