Maternity Cover
Cranleigh seeks to appoint, starting January 2022, a strong honours graduate to teach Mathematics. The successful candidate will teach classes in Mathematics from a selection of years 9 to 13 in a lively, ambitious and successful Department, as well as taking a full part in the life of this busy and friendly boarding school. The post will run for at least two terms and potentially three terms.
We are looking for an energetic character who can effectively communicate their enthusiasm for Mathematics, bringing some humour as well as subject knowledge with them. The successful candidate will have an excellent knowledge of, and a real enthusiasm for Mathematics and is likely to hold a good honours degree in Mathematics or a related subject. He/she will be self-motivated and will relish the challenge presented by being part of a successful, forward-thinking Department. A commitment to students, the department and the wider life of the School, plus a firm grasp of curricular developments are important as are empathy, being well-organised, a sense of humour and the ability to enhance the department's delivery and development of Mathematics.
The successful candidate will be expected to get involved in all aspects of this busy boarding school (which would normally include one evening duty per week), including acting as a tutor to a group of students within a Boarding House and some delivery of the School's PSHE programme. All teachers are expected to contribute to the School's co-curricular programme and co-curricular activities alongside their academic responsibilities.
