*What does a Deputy Service Manager do?*
The role of a Deputy Service Manager is to ensure the people we work with are safe, happy and lead fulfilling lives. Supporting someone with learning disability isn't just personal care, you could be taking people shopping, cinema, bowling, spending days on trips out and many more activities. Duties involve taking the lead in supporting adults with learning disabilities in all aspects of their lives, assisting with their care and educational needs, in their own homes and out in the community. You will also be supervising and advising less experienced staff and assisting in the overall management of the service and medication administration. The role contains management hours alongside support work.
*Where would I work?*
Rydes Hill Road provides supported living for four people with learning disabilities. It is located in a pleasant part of Guildford, close to shops and public transport. The property has been adapted to provide one ground floor bedroom with a wet room and three upstairs bedrooms sharing a large family bathroom. Downstairs is a large open-plan living room which leads into a dining room with access to the rear garden. There is a bright and modern fitted kitchen which has space for a small table. Outside, there is a good sized rear garden and at the front, there is parking for several cars.
The support offered will meet the needs of individuals with a learning disability, autism and other associated needs. The service was developed in Surrey to enable individuals to stay within their local area.
*What experience do I need?*
Experience within a management role is essential and a QCF level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent desirable. The position requires extensive knowledge, including supervisory experience working within Adult Social Care. You will need to have a professional approach with the ability to organise and prioritise. Good knowledge of relevant codes of practice and legislation.
