*What does support worker do?*
The role of a support worker is to ensure the people we work with are safe, happy and lead fulfilling lives. Supporting someone with learning disability isn't just personal care, you could be taking people shopping, cinema, bowling, spending days on trips out and many more activities.
Your role as a Support Worker [but not limited to]:
· To participate in the shared implementation of support/care plans for individuals including provision for the physical and personal support needs and their emotional, intellectual and social well-being
· To support service users accessing the community and to organise and participate in appropriate leisure or other activities outside of their own homes
· To maintain, write records and reports on each service user in accordance with Company policies and guidelines.
· To ensure that care plans are followed and important information is recorded when appropriate
· To be aware of the procedures for taking appropriate action in case of an emergency
*Where would I work?*
Wey View provides residential support for 10 adults with learning disabilities, autism and complex emotional and behavioural needs.
Originally an older style care home, the property was completely reconfigured and updated in November 2015. The accommodation includes eight en-suite bedrooms in the main building as well as extensive communal space that includes a large open dining room and several lounge areas for relaxation and social activities. Additionally, there are two self-contained one-bedroom annexes for individuals who benefit from a more bespoke living environment and support but who can also access the facilities and social benefits of the main home when they choose. To the rear of the property there is a large garden with a dedicated activities room.
*What experience do I need?*
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have previous experience working with people with learning disabilities or other disadvantaged groups.
