Senior Project Accountant - ACCA/CIMA/ACA
Job Details:
This position is responsible for financial elements of delegated EMEA Projects/Services Contracts, Incumbents of this role will work across the Commercial, Engineering, Project Management, Bids & Proposals and Finance functions, providing all manner of financial based support. The role will continuously work towards improving both the quality and depth of the financial/non-financial information made available to the senior management team, enabling informed decision making.
The role provides a project control, reporting and analysis service to the Operations Director/Customer Service Director, Project Managers and Senior Management.
This position typically works under general supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and appropriate decision-making authority
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Business partner with program/service management
- Provide first level review of projects and highlight potential risks/issues to senior management
- Delivery and presentation of timely, accurate and compliant project financial results and status on a monthly basis
- To advise management of any known variances or problems of significance which may affect the outcome of a project
- Review status of project billings and ensure active monitoring with project/service managers to ensure minimisation of company exposure to bad debts
- Meet with project managers prior to the monthly review meetings to agree project status including contract values, estimates to completion, billings, retentions and cash flow
- Work with the project managers in reviewing and understanding the monthly project status reports
- Liaise with financial reporting and ensure that queries are followed up efficiently and effectively
- Provide support in the establishment of first class systems and metrics to monitor performance of the business against budget
- To continually foster inter-departmental relationships to ensure positive and professional reflection of the department
- To assist in the compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley policies and procedures
- Advise in reporting of financial matters to customers, senior management and project team members
- Provide support in reviewing and generating bid summaries for accuracy and compliance with company rates and mark ups
Minimum Job Requirements:
Qualifications
- Qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACA or equivalent
- Degree or equivalent in a finance or business related discipline is desirable but not essential
Skills/Experience/Knowledge
- Knowledge and understanding of a project or services-based environment
- Ability to work well with others under deadline situations and respond to changes in priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills
- Ability to present financial information to senior and executive management
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities and see projects through to completion
- Proficient with Microsoft Office including advanced excel skills
- Demonstrates strong analytical and statistical skills with a proven record in a financial analytical environment
- Commercially focused with a background in interpreting financial business data and complex statistical concepts to create clear commentary on results
- Numerate with strong attention to detail and accuracy
