Leads and manages the assigned Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) team and their activities for the assigned affiliate within the assigned division. Communicates local and corporate SHE requirements within the affiliate and helps ensure compliance. Implements, monitors and reports on key performance indicators for affiliate SHE. Implements, manages and documents SHE risk analyses for internal reviews, decision-making, corrective and preventative actions and associated reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

* Manages the SHE Team, with the scope of Health, Safety, Environment, Risk and Business Continuity

* Responsible for shaping and delivering the local SHE strategy in alignment with the parent company goals

Key Activities

SHE Strategy - Defines the Affiliate SHE Strategy in alignment with the business plan and in collaboration with SHE officers from other UK divisions

Team Leadership - Develops and leads the SHE Team to success and is responsible for active performance management

Licence to Operate - Ensures compliance with all country specific requirements

Facilitate cross-functional awareness and understanding of regulatory issues and environment as appropriate.

Acts as single point of contact for Global Q&R and Group SHE

Responsible for SHE key figure reporting

To carry out all necessary tasks to ensure we retain our ISO registrations for Environment (14001) and Health and Safety (18001)/ISO 45001 and compliance with Group Global SHE framework ( K Directives)

Operations - Ensures that all SHE processes are fit for purpose

Manages a programme of continuous monitoring and improvement

Advocacy - Works with the wider network - Global, external industry bodies and Government to advocate the Roche position

Team Development

* Motivate and lead the team to success, through : development in role; delivery of timely feedback, celebration of success, fostering a culture of team working and collaboration.

* Organisation of regular 1:1 meetings with team and timely feedback

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge, Values and Core Competencies* *

* Degree in Life Science or equivalent

* Recognised professional qualification in Occupational Safety such as NEBOSH certificate

* Minimum 10 years experience in field of Health Safety & Environment ideally in healthcare/Diagnostics/IVD Industry

* Experience of dealing with Regulatory Authorities

* Environmental Management and knowledge of UK and EU regulatory framework

* Leadership/line management of team of subject matter experts

* Excellent interpersonal skills, reliability, ability to communicate effectively at all levels

* Analytical skills to interpret key legislation in the context of SHE and translate into practical initiatives

* Good understanding of risk assessments
