Our client a global automotive organisation are looking for an experienced colour & materials engineer:
The person:

* Proven track record in developing and delivering new materials into a production automotive program.
* Knowledge and understanding of key technologies and processes used in both Interior and Exterior materials.
* Experience in the validating new materials to automotive standards
* A passion for sustainability and desire to improve the overall sustainability of vehicles and their interior material selection
* You can look at new materials and assess how they could be used and what limitations they might face, with a desire to challenge what has been done before and implement something innovative.
* You have gone through new colour and grain development processes in hard plastics, paints and fabric materials.
* You are an excellent communicator and can interpret designs wishes and turn then into well thought out engineered proposals
* You can work proactively with minimal support using a logical approach in an environment with minimal documented processes
* You have a proven ability to work to deadlines and prioritise your own workload
The Role:
* Support the live programs working between Engineering and studio to deliver a joined-up colour and materials process from end to end
* Lead the development of new colour development of existing materials taking the design wishes through to realised industrial solutions with the chosen supply base
* Lead all new material developments for engineering, supporting both Design and R&D, writing fully timed and costed development and introduction plans, and writing and running validation programs in support of the main program timeline
* Research and investigate new material solutions to known problems
* Create proposals for new projects based on research undertaken with a view to developing some of the new materials of the future
* Support the Engineering team with identifying new structural materials and creating plans to validate and implement into both existing and new programs
* Support sustainability team in idea generation and regular meetings to ensure all new developments are communicated and support given where needed.
* Create, co-ordinate and run regular colour & material meetings ensuring all key stakeholders are engaged when needed
Minimum Required Skills & Experience:
* 5+ years working in Automotive Industry or similar field
* Direct validation and development experience of automotive grade (or similar) surface materials
* Experience with Microsoft Office applications
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Excellent interpersonal & organisational skills, with good attention to detail
* Able to work in start-up environment
* A Design, materials or Engineering Degree (Other recognised engineering qualifications combined with relevant significant experience will be considered).
