Mechanical Engineer

Job description

My client is currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to work multiple UK water frameworks.
You will be required to assist with (and gain knowledge in) the management and production of outsourced design and construction activities, and to assist with the management of M&E Consultants and Sub-contractors throughout the design, installation, testing and commissioning of the services installation.
This is a developmental role towards a Senior Mechanical Engineer position.
The Role
* Read and understand relevant Client specifications and approval requirements.
* Understand the budget and target values for the packages of work.
* Identify technical improvements and cost savings for the work packages.
* To maintain excellent working relationships with the clients / partners and other potential clients / partners.
* To work continuously to improve standards of performance and improve efficiency.
* To fully own, be responsible and accountable for their design output (i.e., process, electrical or mechanical). Also to offer design support throughout the project (i.e. feasibility, outline design, detailed design, construction and commissioning).
* To support and maintain good communications with all members of the design and project team. Thus, ensuring an acceptable multi-disciplinary design output.
* To develop best value, robust designs solutions which can withstand external challenge. To Identify, propose, and test innovative ideas.
The Candidate
* Have the necessary qualifications to be accepted to undertake a qualification in a recognised relevant Subject to HNC / Degree Level.
* Gain working knowledge of aspects and law, including The Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and CDM 2015.
* Gain a basic knowledge of sub-contract processes - contract and commercial.
* Basic appreciation and use knowledge of project management - programming, cash flow analysis, resource planning etc.
* Willingness to undertake relevant professional qualifications.
