Senior Buyer£40,000 - £45,000 dependent upon experience

Our client is a thriving and in demand multi-disciplined civil engineering and utilities Company based in the Black Country.

They are seeking a 'hands-on'/ 'transactional' and 'making the calls' Senior Buyer to join their Procurement Team working on a variety of projects for the Group supplying a variety of contracts and projects for the stakeholders, many of them recognised household names.

Reporting to the Procurement Manager, you will be responsible for procurement, scheduling and management of materials for multiple projects within the Group. You will need to be able to deliver the end-to-end direct / materials procurement cycle in a fast-paced environment.

You will be supporting the Commercial/Operational and Site management Teams through all phases including tendering, planning, excavation, construction, reinstatement stages to ensure that material milestones are met whilst minimising costs ensuring best value and best price has been achieved.

Responsibilities

Ensure day to day purchases for sites are ordered and delivered on time
Ensure 3 quote process/best value is achieved each and every time from small items such as light bulbs to £250k aggregate call off orders - our client believes the same best value and best price principles apply to all purchases
Purchase materials and fittings to specifications
Liaise with Site Managers to ensure timely delivery of supplies
The ability to decipher information from project drawings
Highlight supplier performance concerns
Ensure an up to date working knowledge of material suppliers and market intelligence to assist with purchasing decisions
Ensure regular communication with suppliers and maintain supply base
Deputise in the absence of the buyer and assistant buyer to ensure the procurement team supports the Group operationally at all times.

Able to demonstrate they have proven experience in a buyer or senior buyer role and has the ability to evidence significant cost reductions and savings in current role
Excellent communications skills
Solid commercial awareness and analytical skills
Self-motivated, driven and able to work on own initiative
Proficient in use of Microsoft software packages; Excel, Project, Word
