HMP Wetherby Young Offenders Institute (WYOI) is a secure male young person centre housing 336 children aged between 15 & 18 years, and Adel Beck Secure Children's Home holds 24 young people (male and female) age 10-18 years. Leeds Community Healthcare have been providing healthcare here for over 10 years, meaning we have a unique understanding of children and young people's needs and the associated challenges and opportunities these bring.

We require an enthusiastic full time healthcare assistant to work within the healthcare team at both HMYOI Wetherby and Adel Beck Secure Children's Home in Leeds. The post holders will support qualified nurses in delivering healthcare services, to some very vulnerable and highly complex young people. Duties will include: supporting G.P clinics, taking part in health promotion sessions, Sexual health screening, biological sampling, immunisation administration, phlebotomy, recording observations and providing support to young people on wing based / Unit based locations. We are seeking to recruit staff who have a genuine desire to work with young people in a secure estate and who are passionate and committed to delivering high quality healthcare services that make a difference.

Experience of working with this client group and of working within a secure environment is desirable, experience of working as a Band 2 HCA or equivalent is essential. A comprehensive induction package is provided, including any training that may be required. It is strongly recommended that interested candidates contact Sandra Camp on to discuss.
