ZERO CARBON CONSTRUCTION SKILLS CO-ORDINATOR
Ref: 0319
Salary: £33,448- £35,411 per annum
Hours: 37 per week.
Contract: Temporary for 2 years (with potential to be extended for at least a further year).
This is an exciting new project to enhance the skills and knowledge of our students and staff about the Carbon Zero Agenda in Construction and the Built Environment.
Are you passionate about improving awareness, skills and understanding of environmental issues within the sector? If so, this could be the role for you. We are looking for an enthusiastic Project Co-ordinator who is willing to join our team and share their knowledge and skills with young people and adults.
This role will involve organising opportunities for students to visit sites and observe modern methods of construction including retro-fits. You will work with College staff to keep courses up to date with current Carbon Zero best practice. You will plan, develop, and help deliver a series of events and workshops for students and staff, and public events for the College and JAST, that support the UK's Carbon Reduction Targets. In addition, the job will involve meeting other further and higher education bodies, learning about the work they are doing on the Carbon Zero Agenda, and bringing that knowledge into the College to inform and enrich student course for the future.
Ideally you will have a level 3 construction related qualification and have experience of working on construction sites. You should also be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of the Zero Carbon Agenda for Construction. Whilst experience of delivering training/toolbox talks is desirable, support and training will be given to the successful candidate.
In return we offer a warm, welcoming and inclusive College environment with outstanding facilities, and an excellent benefits package that includes:
• A generous 35 day annual leave entitlement, plus 8 bank holidays and 6 college closure days.
• A well-respected occupational pension scheme (Teachers Pensions)
• A range of staff benefits including: cycle to work, access to subsidised public transport, Employee wellbeing through Care First and if required free parking at all our college sites on first come first served basis.
• Family friendly policies and opportunities to work flexibly
• Superb opportunities for training and development
So, if you'd like to be part of a unique and progressive organisation that supports one of the largest employment sectors in the UK, we'd love to hear from you.
Leeds College of Building is the UK's only specialist further education construction College and we have an excellent reputation for providing quality education in Construction and the Built Environment.
This role is funded by the newly formed Joseph Aspdin Skills Trust (JAST) and is for an initial 2 year fixed term. Provided the project is a success, funding is available for a third year.
